Dr. Doug
Gordon DMD, MS of Gordon Orthodontics, located in Greenville and Troy,
has
given generously to support Family Theater Series programming for
children. “Dr.
Gordon has committed his
life and his practice to improving the quality of life and confidence
level of
his patients, and feels that providing opportunities for youngsters to
learn
and grow through the arts is a natural extension of his commitment to
enhancing
the quality of life in our community,” says Strait.
She continues, “DCCA is proud to have
Dr.
Gordon serve on its Board of Directors and truly appreciates his
commitment to
support the arts. ”
Dr.
Gordon’s sponsorship helps enable DCCA to present high quality artistic
performances for youngsters and their families at a low ticket-price of
$5. According to
Strait, the goal of
DCCA’s Family Theatre Series is to inspire the imaginations of the
young and
young at heart, encouraging the expression of creativity. The series attracts a
wide-ranging audience
that includes many preschool children enjoying their first theater
experience,
as well as senior citizens who enjoy the shows’ strong depiction of
traditional
values.
Performance
times are scheduled to fit conveniently into most schedules at 2 p.m.
on Sunday
afternoons. Most of
the productions are
original musicals based on popular tales adapted from current and
classic
children’s literature, although non-theatrical creativity -inspiring
performances are presented as well.
DCCA is in
the midst of its 33rd season of presenting high quality professional
performing
artists in Darke County. Family
Theater
Series’ 2011/2012 season opened with Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia’s
charming
presentation of Goodnight Moon and The Runaway Bunny.
Still to come, The House At Pooh Corner
will
delight young and old alike when Theatre IV brings our dear friends
from the
Hundred Acre Woods to St. Clair Memorial Hall on Sunday, March 25. Wizard of Oz will complete
the season on
Sunday, May 6. American
Theatre’s lavish
production of this family favorite will be a spectacular ending to a
great
season of events.
All Family
Theatre Series performances take place at the beautiful, historic Henry
St.
Clair Memorial Hall in Greenville.
Tickets are $5 and may be purchased one
month in advance of the shows at
Readmore’s Hallmark in Greenville, and Worch Memorial Public Library in
Versailles. Tickets
are available now by

purchased
at the door on the day of the show.
