2012 Horse Parade
Time and Hard
Work go into Parade Preparations
Photos by Elaine Bailey
In what was probably one of the largest Greenville holiday events of
the year, hundreds of people lined up both sides of South Broadway and
around the Circle at Broadway and Main. They were anxiously awaiting
the parade of horses.
What few realized was that long before they arrived to wait for the
parade, the participants were hard at work getting their horses and
wagons ready for the annual event.
Depending on whether the entries were “first time” or complete changes
from years past, days and possibly weeks had been spent in preparation.
It was still daylight as they put on the final touches in the former
LoBill’s parking lot on Martin Street.
CNO Correspondent Elaine Bailey checked out some of the preparations –
and participants - and offered us a pictorial view with a little
background on each…
Soon it was 7 p.m. and time for the show to start…
Coming up… Showtime!
