Party “Callers” recognized for their service

“The more than 50 people that helped with calling all during this year were just fantastic at stepping up and volunteering. Without their help, we would never have made the almost 50,000 calls that were made!” said Lyn Bliss, chair for the Republican calling efforts in Darke County.

The Ohio Republican Party and Congressman John Boehner cooperatively funded the program that is done by a Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) system.

A recognition party was held in honor of all those who had volunteered during the year. Additionally, those who had volunteered the greatest number of hours and those who had made the greatest number of calls during the year were specifically honored and given prizes.

Representative Jim Buchy (R-84) gave out the prizes to all of the recipients. Buchy had also joined calling sessions during the year.

Robert Foster attended 31 calling sessions and made over 5,100 calls. He was awarded a copy of the Congressional Club Cookbook, autographed by Speaker John Boehner.

Janet Rapier was second with the most calls placed, having made over 4,500. She was awarded a set of crystal glasses with the U.S. House of Representatives Seal and Speaker John Boehner’s signature etched on each.

Marna Bricker was third, having made over 4,100 calls. She was awarded a baseball cap with the seal of the U.S. House of Representatives and personally autographed by Speaker Boehner.

James McGlothin attended 24 of the 47 calling sessions and received a crystal ice bucket with the U.S. House of Representatives Seal and Speaker John Boehner’s signature etched on it.

Vivian Foreman and Kaye Moore were tied for second, each having attended 23 of the 47 calling sessions. Foreman was awarded a set of crystal glasses with the U.S. House of Representatives Seal and Speaker John Boehner’s signature etched on each. Moore was unable to attend the recognition party. However, she was awarded a baseball cap with the seal of the U.S. House of Representatives and personally autographed by Speaker Boehner.

“All of you in this room are to be congratulated. Your efforts are no less diminished because of the nationwide election results. You should all be proud and know that you helped Darke County have over a 71% vote for Republican Candidate Romney.” said Darke County Republican Executive Chair Cindy Pike.

A flag plaque was presented to Lyn Bliss in recognition of her efforts during the year.

“You were so very worried about making sure all the callers got recognized, we thought that you needed to also be recognized because of the great job you did getting this program together and coordinating all the details throughout the year.” said Pike as she presented the plaque to Bliss, which had been signed by all of the callers.
