GHS
College Club visits Sinclair College
(GREENVILLE)
About 25 Greenville High School juniors recently visited Sinclair
Community
College as part of the College Club.
While
at Sinclair, the students learned about admissions requirements as well
as tips
for selecting careers and majors. They then toured the Dayton campus
before
eating lunch there.
The
Greenville High School College Club, a joint effort between the GHS
Guidance
Office and Bridges to College, is designed to educate high school
students
about college.
Earlier
this year, the College Club took students to Wright State University.
Prior
to going on the Sinclair Community College visit, the students were
required to
attend a luncheon, where GHS counselors Becky Curtis and Krista Subler
and
Bridges to College director Beth Sears reviewed career information,
taking the
ACT test, and financing college.
“Students
are required to attend the educational luncheon before going on the
college
visit,” Curtis said.
In
November, the College Club will visit Ball State University. Prior to
going on
the visit, Chris Seger, Bridges to College board member and admissions
director
at Ivy Tech-Richmond, will provide basic information about funding
college.
A
Greenville Schools Foundation grant is partially funding the College
Club.
However, individuals who would like to contribute to future trips may
make a
donation to an account set up through Greenville City Schools.
