Darke County
Center for the Arts
BASF
gives to Arts in Education
BASF
has recently donated funds to sponsor Darke County
Center for the Arts’ (DCCA) 2012-2013 Arts in Education program. “BASF has been a loyal
supporter of the arts
for many years; their commitment to expanding the education of our
students
through the arts is very much appreciated,” said DCCA Artistic Director
Keith
Rawlins. BASF is
the world’s leading
chemical company. The
Greenville, Ohio
plant produces coatings for the automotive industry as well as resins
for
undercoating on vehicles.
Through Arts in
Education DCCA annually presents performing
artists to students at all grades of all Darke County and Greenville
City
Schools. Pictured
above, Elgin Kelly of
TheatreWorks USA presented The World of Anne Frank to Jr. High school
students
on October 4th and 5th. Told
through the
eyes of a friend, Ms. Kelly brought history to life through an
interactive video
presentation that included real photos of Anne Frank, concentration
camps, and
footage of happenings from that period in history.
Upcoming Arts In
Education programs will include Freestyle
Music Writing with Jonathan Kingham for high school students on
November
12-15. Eisenhower
Dance Ensemble’s Kids
‘n Motion will inspire students in grades 4 through 6 to learn, create,
and
enjoy dance on February 25 – March 1, 2013.
And completing the season, Kid Power’s
Operation Lunch Line, a musical
show using spectacular visual effects in 3-D, will teach students in
grades K-3
the value of nutrition on March 11-15, 2013.
During the past
season Darke County Center for the Arts
served over 11,600 youth and adults through various activities. Sponsorships for Arts In
Education and other
DCCA programs are still available.
