Darke County
League of Women Voters
Candidates
Night, Tour of Homes topics of October meeting
Candidates Night,
planned for Monday, October 22 from 7 to 9
p.m at the American Legion, was the topic for the October meeting of
the League
of Women Voters of Darke County. This
fall candidates will be running for the district offices of State
Representaative, and Ohio Appellate Court Judgeships.
Candidates for
each of the district offices will have time
to introduce themselves and then will have an opportunity to answer
questions
submitted by the members of the audience.
League members will also present the
state ballot issues without
comments.
The 2012 Tour of
Homes was the other topic of the evening
with thanks going to the Fliemans, the Nords and to Anne Willis for
opening
their beautiful homes to the public.
About two hundred viewed the lovely
decors and innovative furnishings
found in the homes, getting information on special points of interest
in each.
The League noted
that thanks should also go to local
merchants who also helped make the 2012 Tour successful: Anne’s Gifts, Brenda’s
Beanery, Helen’s
Flowers, Montage, The Bistro Off Broadway,
The Coffee Pot, The Flower Patch, The
Ivy League, and Tropical
Isle. Many men and
women in the
community also helped with hosting and parking and were a big part of
the
success.
Upcoming events
for the League are aimed at information for
both League members and the community.
In November, Democrary in the Balance, a
program on campaign reform is planned.
For next March, League members are
working on a program bringing
speakers from across the state to address the topic “To Frack or Not to
Frack -
That is the Question”.
