Donates Flag to Library
The
VFW 7262
Greenville Ladies Auxiliary donated a beautiful 4x6 American Flag to
the
Greenville Public Library. Arlene
Meyers
explained that the Auxiliary will give a flag to any organization in
need of
one as part of their “Americanism” program.
Americanism, which
promotes
patriotism and love & pride of country, is just one of the
Auxiliary's many
programs that benefit veterans and the community.
“We’re very community minded and give to
anyone in need.” They
also support
cancer research & aid, awards & scholarships, youth,
rehabilitation,
and food baskets during the holidays, to name just a few.
Arlene
joined the
Auxiliary in 1974 and is now a life member.
She’s served as past president on both
the local and district
levels. To be
eligible to join a lady
must have had a husband, father, brother, or son who served in the
military in
foreign territory during a time of crisis.
Arlene
is seen
with Director John Vehre who said the Library's flagpole rope had
recently been
repaired so it was a good time to replace the old flag.
Director Vehre expressed his thanks to the Ladies
Auxiliary for their
beautiful gift and for all they do for the community.
