Leah and Lexi compete, one on one
By Bob Robinson

GREENVILLE – Leah Wilburn and Lexi Shinn were the only two contestants in the Junior High Individual portion of the 23rd Annual Great Darke County Fair Cheerleading Competition on Aug. 16. Both are students at Ansonia.

The friends were competing one on one.

Leah started working on her routine about three weeks prior to the event, every day, two or three times a day.

“Yeah, I think I did good,” she said between gasps for breath. “I had a lot of fun out there.”

Her fellow student, Lexi has been practicing an hour or two a day for two months. She also felt like she’d done a good job.

Are they friendly competitors? You bet.

“We help each other out all the time,” Leah said.

Was Leah doing the most helping, or did Lexi’s two months of practice provide a better payout? Lexi holds the trophy; Leah holds the second place ribbon.
