Commanding performance at ribbon cutting
By Bob Robinson

GREENVILLE – Each year the Darke County Fair Board brings talented singers to the Ribbon Cutting to sing the National Anthem while the flag is raised to signify the opening of the fair. This year was no different.

Ansonia sophomore Jensen Sprenkle and junior Elissa Bennett used a blend of harmony that was striking in its rendition of the anthem. They maintained its traditional strains but did so in a unique manner that was in a way enchanting.

“We met in choir,” they said, noting they had been practicing together for a long time.

Currently they perform at basketball games, but not a whole lot elsewhere.

“We thought about wanting to do more, but that’s about it. We have no real plans.”

The value of working together on their music is not lost on them, for reasons that have nothing to do with the songs they are learning…

“It takes teamwork to do something like this. It teaches us the benefits in working well with others.”

Note: The second photo was a reenactment of a pose the two girls made for another person a little earlier that morning.
