I absolutely loved every
minute

Miss Annie Oakley 2013
This
weekend has been a
blast. I never expected to have so much fun or to be this tired. Over
the past
few days I have met several of the previous Miss Annie Oakleys and two
of the
Antique Annies. I also got to meet several amazing and some very
talented people.
I
can't pick a favorite
part of this weekend. I absolutely loved every bit of it... and it
wasn't
because of all the attention I got. The... reason why I love this
weekend was
because I saw people come together and grow as a community and it was
amazing.
There were people from out of state that came just to experience the
event. I
met a couple that came up from Florida just to learn more about Annie
Oakley.
They were both teachers who liked to teach about her and they said
their
students enjoyed it.
It
was amazing looking out
at all the people who watched the parade on Saturday. I even was asked
to do
the quick draw and I ended up doing pretty good. A man in the audience
came up
to me afterwards and told me that if I practiced some more I would make
a good
competitor in the future (I think he was just being nice though).
I
understand that this year
did not have the biggest crowd, but the people that came were so nice
and
everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. I think that it was great no
matter what.
I honestly didn't even care that it was raining yesterday.
I
want to thank everyone
who came out and supported me while I was in the shooting competition
and those
who came out to the fairgrounds for the festival. Also, I again want to
thank
everyone on the committee for their help and for everything else they
have
done. Thanks to my sponsor the New Madison Mini Mart.
A
big thanks to my family
for being there all throughout the competition and this weekend. Aunt
Jill did
a fantastic job on my costume, which was again greatly praised. John
did an
awesome job on the six pointed star, a few people asked me all about
why I had
it and where I got it. I know everyone is tired from being up there,
but it
meant a lot. Grandma Dixie and Grandpa Paul along with Paige Hampton
(starting
Friday night) and my parents and brothers spent their entire weekend
there... more
than what they had to so I really appreciate it.
I'm
sad to see this weekend
end, but with it now comes being in more parades and doing things
throughout
the different communities as the new Miss Annie Oakley.
