The
outing raised $30,000 for Bridges to College, a non-profit organization
that
helps students go to college by offering one-on-one mentoring, college
awareness programming, and need-based scholarships. Karlh McCallister
was
instrumental in founding the organization in 2006.
“Because
of the successful outing and raffle,
Bridges to College will be able to offer its educational programs –
like
College Club, a sixth-grade college visit, and a second-grade activity
book,”
said Beth Sears, executive director of Bridges to College. “In
addition, we’ll
be able to expand College Club to include Ansonia High School
sophomores.”
“I
really appreciate all who helped organize
the outing as well as the generous donors and players, and all those
who bought
raffle tickets,” Sears said.
The
date for next year’s outing will be announced
soon on the Bridges to College website.
