Local VFW Auxiliary pays visit to
vets at Dayton VA Hospital
By Lyn Bliss
“We
are always greeted with such appreciation when we visit the
Veterans,” said Marlene McGlinch. “We are so proud to be able to
provide this
service to our Veterans.”
Her
comments were made during a recent visit of the Ladies
Auxiliary to VFW Post 7262 (LAVFW) to the Dayton VA Medical Center.
The
LAVFW visits the Hospital several times each year. During their
visits, they try to greet each patient, thank them for their service
and give
them a token of appreciation. Typically, the gift is a seasonal cut-out
with
canteen coupons attached. Additionally, local church groups often knit
and/or
quilt lap robes to be given to the Veterans.
During
the most recent visit, the LAVFW visited the new Hospice and
Palliative Care Center. The visiting ladies were greeted and given a
tour of
the new facility by Palliative Care Coordinator Kathleen Hayes.
