Kiwanis of Greenville
GHS Students of the Month honored
Kiwanians were also treated to a visit from Mark Twain

GHS Students of the Month for February – Janelle Davidson and Scott Wirrig – were honored recently at Kiwanis.

Janelle lives in Greenville. She is the daughter of Christine Davidson. She is active in the Theatre Club and plans to go to Sinclair College to study Programming.

Scott, also a Greenville resident, is the son of Irene and Tony Wirrig. He is active in Key Club, SADD Club, Science Club (Representative), Engineering Tech Prep (President), National Technical Honor Society (President) and Varsity G. He is also a Youth Leader in the Glory Youth Group. Scott plans to attend Sinclair to duel major in Mechanical Engineering and Operation Technology, then transfer to University of Dayton to finish degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Shown with the students are Cindy Riffle, Kiwanis President, and Ken Neff, GHS Principal.

At the same meeting, Kiwanians were treated to a visit from Mark Twain. He is actually Dave Cummings former GHS teacher who came to Greenville in 1964 from Versailles where he taught for a few years. Originally from Lima, Ohio, Dave entertained Kiwanians with “lies” and funny stories from Mark Twain’s past travels. Shown with Dave is Cindy Riffle, Kiwanis President.

Kiwanis is a local community service organization that meets for lunch every Wednesday at Chestnut Community Center at the Brethren Retirement Community. Interesting speakers on a variety of topics, from other community service organizations to local government officials, are presented to the group each week. All interested local residents are encouraged to stop by and join the fun.
