Versailles High
School Students Honored at Ohio Statehouse
COLUMBUS— State Representative Jim Buchy (R-Greenville) Wednesday,
honored students from Versailles High School on the floor of the Ohio
House Chamber at the Statehouse. They were also honored by Senators
Keith Faber (R-Celina) and Bill Beagle (R-Tipp City) in the Senate
Chamber.
“It is ‘Versailles Day’ at the Statehouse,” Rep. Buchy said. “Students
from Versailles continue to have outstanding accomplishments—whether in
sports or anything else—and they deserve to be recognized in front of
legislators from every corner of the state.”
The girls’ track and field team, Samuel Prakel and Nick Rutschilling
all received resolutions on behalf of the Ohio General Assembly.
Senator Beagle praised them as “another shining example of strong
athletics and agriculture in Darke County.”
The Tigers’ girls track and field team won the 2012 Division III State
Championship. Samuel Prakel, who has previously been recognized at the
Ohio House, became the Division II State Cross Country Champion and won
the 2012 National Wendy’s High School Heisman Award. Nick Rutschilling
received the 2012 National FFA Swine Production Placement Proficiency
Title.
"Versailles has a great tradition of excellence, which has been shown
clearly in their recent athletic seasons," Senator Faber said. "I'm
proud that we were able to recognize just a couple of their successes
in the Statehouse today."
