Fun
Day at Shelby County YMCA
Big
Brothers Big Sisters of Shelby and Darke County had an outing at the
Shelby
County YMCA on April 13. The free event was open to all Big’s and
Little’s in
the Shelby and Darke County area. The YMCA teamed up with Big Brother’s
and Big
Sister’s and allowed the use of their facilities.
Around
40 adults and kids enrolled in the program came to the event and each
child was
able to eat pizza, play games, swim and spend time with their Big
Brother or
Big Sister. “We were thrilled when the YMCA offered the use of their
facility
for our event,” Jennifer Bruns, Executive Director stated. We search for activities
in which the
children in our program can socialize with other kids, be active and
have a fun
safe day out with their volunteer Big.”
Big
Brothers Big Sisters also has another event coming up for their
program. On
Saturday, April 27 2013 Big Brothers Big Sisters will be having a booth
at the
Shelby County YMCA Healthy Kids Day event that the YMCA hosts. Stop by
the Big
Brothers Big Sisters booth to learn more information about enrolling in
our
program as a volunteer or as a child. Also, be sure to keep your eye
out around
town for the 7th annual Duck Derby information. The Duck Derby will be
held on
June 20, 2013 at Tawawa Park in Sidney. Ducks can be purchased at
Kroger,
Wal-Mart, Mayfest and the Farmers Market staring Memorial weekend. You
