Relay For Life® Team Gearing Up for Main Event
VERSAILLES,
Ohio – (May 8, 2013) – Midmark Corporation is gearing
up for the Darke County Relay For Life® to raise funds for the American
Cancer
Society. The Midmark “Because we care.®” team includes several
teammates who
are coming together with the community to participate in the main
event, which
will be held on July 19 and 20 at Heritage Park in Versailles, Ohio.
The event
will kick-off on Friday at 6:00 p.m. followed by an inspirational
luminaria
ceremony at 9:30 p.m. Friends and family members will light their
luminarias,
while the names of the cancer survivors, those currently battling
cancer, and
those lost to the disease will be read aloud.
The
Midmark team has been a part of Darke County Relay For Life
for the past several years, raising money through flower sales, bowling
events,
bake sales, chicken dinner sales, as well as employee jeans days. In
addition,
the team will have a food tent at the main event in Heritage Park.
“I
am very proud of our Relay For Life team and all our teammates
at Midmark who support this wonderful cause each year,” said Sharyl
Gardner,
Midmark’s chief administrative officer. “We have members on the team
this year
who have been personally touched by cancer within their families or
have
survived cancer themselves. Through Relay for Life, we are able to come
together with our teammates and with the community to build awareness
about the
need for continued cancer research and to support those affected by
this
disease.”
Funds
raised at the Relay For Life event will enable the American
Cancer Society to support local services and resources for cancer
patients and
their families. Funds also support critical cancer research and
community
education programs designed to teach people how to reduce their risk of
developing cancer.
Midmark
invites members of the community to participate by joining
a team, starting a team or attending the main event on July 19 and 20.
