24th Annual UW
Golf Outing raises $14,400
The Darke County United Way welcomed 28 teams to Turtle Creek Golf
Course for a nice afternoon of golf for the 27 local non-profit
programs of the United Way. The tournament was sponsored by
Whirlpool Corporation and KitchenAid ExperienceTM as well as our
co-sponsors including BASF, Brethren Retirement Community, Dave Knapp
Ford Lincoln Mercury, Edward Jones, Family Health, Fry & Co.,
CPA’s, Greenville Federal, Greenville National Bank, Mercer Savings
Bank, Midmark Corporation, Second National Bank, The Farmers State
Bank, and Wayne HealthCare.
A handicap tournament was played awarding 1st place gross, and 1st,
2nd, and 3rd place net at the tournament. 1st place gross winners
were the team of Terry Martin, Jeff Spieles, Scott Fischer, and Bob
Whitehead. The 1st place net team winners were the team of
Greenville Federal including Jeff Kniese, Brian Beam, and Dave
Dunaway. 2nd place went to Farmers State Bank’s team of Ann
Brooks, Jason Spencer, Chris Schoen, and Kent Monnin. 3rd place
net went to Lugene Ignaffo, Scott Everhart, Larry Ullery, and Steve
Crawford. The match-up for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place net was very
close using PGA rules to determine the winners in a very close
three-way tie.
Individual winners included: Jeff Garland for longest drive on hole 4,
Gary Lloyd for straightest drive on hole 1, Lyn McArdle for closest to
the pin on hole 6, Gary Lloyd for closest to the pin on hole 17, and
Chad Henry for longest putt on hole 18. Jon Jordan took first
prize for the putting contest. Dennis Lockard, Lugene Ignaffo,
Brian Wood, and Keith Davis also won prizes in the putting
contest. Hole-in-one incentives were sponsored by Farmers State
Bank and Dave Knapp Ford Lincoln Mercury. On behalf of the board
of directors and staff at United Way, we would like to thank all of our
golfers for playing in the 24th Annual Golf Tournament as well as our
golf committee volunteers including Rodney Oda, Dave Keiser, Mike
Snyder, Zach Newbauer, Brian Griesdorn, Steve Willman, and Dave
Connelly.
