As the rain fell and winds howled on October 31, parents and children rushed for the Greenville Kroger. Kroger celebrated its second year in participation of “Kids Night Out”.
The night began when the children entered the store and were able to decorate their very own pumpkin. Although only mini pumpkins were promised in the flyer, store manager Steve Weyrich offered the left over regular sized pumpkins, free of charge. “It’s a way to thank our customers and the kids always enjoy it.” Kendra Wesseler, Associates Relations Manager added, “it’s also a fun and safe way for families and kids to celebrate Halloween.”
The festivities continued on to a coloring contest, and then guessing how many candy corn in a jar, corn hole, designing their own cookie, and just trick or treating throughout the store. All candy and activities were supplied free of charge from Kroger.
The coloring contest was separated into age groups of 2-4, 5-6, and 7-8. Bri Hoyst age 4, Maddie Walters, age 6, and Caden Thompson, age 8 were chosen by staff votes as the winners for the event.
Allie Kidd was the winner of guessing how much candy corn had been in the jar. Her guess had her only 6 candies off of the grand total of 1,247 pieces of candy corn.
