MVCTC SkillsUSA Section IV Holds First
Meeting
Clayton, Ohio –
The Miami Valley Career Technology
Center (MVCTC) SkillsUSA Section IV held their first meeting of the
school year on Monday, September 30. During the meeting local
officers and Romello Oliver, State SkillsUSA Vice-President,
introduced the Emblem, Colors, and Creed to the new juniors. Mr.
Kramer, local chapter advisor, spoke on the value of career technical
education, using “Profoundly Disconnect” a website from the
Discovery Channel’s “Dirty Jobs” TV star Mike Rowe.
Mr. Kramer
shared the following about the meeting,
“Students learned the value of Career and Technical Education. We
need to get the message out that this type of education is as
valuable as any education in America. We have a skills gap between
education and the workforce in America and we are here to fill that
gap.”
MVCTC SkillsUSA
Section IV Chapter includes MVCTC
programs Construction Carpentry; Electrical Trades; HVAC; Heavy
Equipment; and Masonry. The 2013-2014 SkillsUSA Section II Officers

The students
have a busy year planned with their Fall
Conference in November, Regional Competition in March, State
Competition in April, and the National Skills USA Competition in June
of 2014.

organization serving teachers and high school and college students

VICA (Vocational Industrial Clubs of America).”
