Preparedness Month
GREENVILLE – On Sept. 4
Darke County Commissioners signed a proclamation declaring the month
of September as Preparedness Month. The Federal Emergency Management
Agency has designated September as National Preparedness Month for
the past 10 years.
The Darke County
proclamation was signed on behalf of the Darke County Emergency
Management Agency and the Darke County Chapter of the American Red
Cross.
The proclamation reads, in
part…
“Whereas, the American
public remains woefully unprepared to self-sustain themselves and
their families for possible disasters and other life-threatening
emergencies in their own community;
“Whereas, government
agencies and disaster organizations cannot bear sole responsibility…
“Whereas, both these
agencies, encourages households to create a family game plan during
National Preparedness Month to ensure everyone is ready for the next
emergency or disaster…”
The commissioners
proclaimed September 2013 as Preparedness Month to encourage
