Darke County Court
Appointed Special Advocates
Help Support CASA
A real home. Somewhere
safe and nurturing. Is it too much for a child to ask? Most kids
can take it for granted. But for a child who has been abused or
neglected, it can be almost beyond imagining.
Court Appointed Special
Advocates – CASAs – are trained citizen volunteers who speak for
the best interests of children thrust into the Juvenile Court System.
Overburdened social workers, lawyers and judges look to the CASA
volunteer for insights about the child and the family. These insights
guide the search for the secure and loving home that every child
deserves.
In Darke County, every
abused or neglected child has a CASA. We are presently serving over
45 children.
While funding for the CASA
director, Kay Robbins, and the office are provided by the Darke
County Commissioners, the costs for training the volunteers are not.
Our CASA Board raised funds to provide birthday presents for the
children whose cases we oversee and we pay for training for our
volunteers.
CASA Board members include
Vicky Henderson, President, Dr. Laurie White, Vice President, Brad
Bixler, Treasurer and Board members Don Bachman, Eric Brand, John
Keller and Eileen Litchfield.
We hope you will support
CASA with a tax-deductible donation. Please send your donations to
Darke Co. CASA, % Juvenile Court, 300 Garst Ave., Greenville OH 45331. Anyone
interested in becoming a CASA volunteer contact the CASA office at
547-9091.
