Visitors Bureau
welcomes new intern
GREENVILLE – The Darke County Visitors Bureau warmly welcomes 2014
Versailles High School graduate, Baleigh Reed to the team as a
marketing intern. Miss Reed will be working with the bureau into the
month of September, at which time she’ll begin her freshman year at The
Ohio State University in Lima.
Miss Reed has been in the office for about a week and has already
experienced many of the reasons why visitors come to Darke County,
including: historic sites, scenic beauty and unique shopping
opportunities.
One of her duties will be to write posts on the bureau’s Facebook page
once a week about her experiences while discovering the community she
has called home for 18 years. Like ‘DarkeCountyOhio’ on Facebook to
“Follow Baleigh” around our community as she experiences many locations
in Darke County for the first time.
“Baleigh is already proved herself to be a valuable asset to our
office,” shared Deanna York, Executive Director of the Darke County
Visitors Bureau. “Her strong work ethic, talents and engaging
personality were evident when she interviewed for the position. She
continues to shine while working with the visitors, as well as locals.”
Miss Reed’s strengths were enhanced during her high school career in
Versailles. She was president of her class all four years of high
school. She was also president of a service-based community club
called, INTERACT and a member of the National Honor Society. She was
actively involved in many sports in high school including: cheerleading
serving as co-captain her senior year and the Versailles High School
track and field program. Baleigh was also involved with many
clubs including: Peers Assisting with Life Skills (Pals) Club, Art
Club, Spanish Club, Varsity V Club, FTA Club, and all while working a
part-time job.
“I’m proud to have recent Versailles High School graduate, Baleigh Reed
as part of the Darke County Visitors Bureau,” stated Aaron Moran, Vice
President of the Bureau and Superintendent of Versailles Schools. “I am
confident that the talents Baleigh demonstrated at VHS will greatly
benefit this organization, and those seeking information about our
community.”
“It is with great appreciation that I accept the internship with the
Darke County Visitors Bureau,” stated Baleigh. “It is not every day
that one is offered the chance to get involved in their community, and
at the same time, learn about its rich history and all its amenities. I
have always had a passion for helping others. That is what attracted me
to this position, and what makes me excited to begin. I have lived in
Darke County for my entire life, and have never known what goes on
behind the scenes to make this area as great as it is. That is another
reason why I am so excited for this opportunity... not only to get a
closer look and better understanding, but to be involved in helping
make our community better and share all the great reasons to visit with
those coming to our area. I wish to thank the board members of the
visitors bureau along with Executive Director, Deanna York for choosing
me as the intern for 2014. I hope to serve the community well through
my time at the visitors bureau.”
Please join the staff and board of trustees of the Darke County
Visitors Bureau in welcoming Baleigh to the team, and to the tourism
family of our community. Look for Baleigh as she is out and about Darke
County discovering the tremendous assets of our community, as well as
sharing information in the bureau’s tents at The Gathering at Garst and
The GREAT! Darke County Fair.
