Recruiting
Volunteers to help our Community!
There
are SO many volunteer opportunities available in Darke County for
those who are age 55 and over through the Retired and Senior
Volunteer Program (RSVP). Here are just a few examples of
organizations and volunteer openings that will get you out of the
house and benefit your community. Remember volunteering is good for
your physical and mental health and a great way to make new friends.
Here
in Darke County we have:
* The Back
Pack Program, where volunteers help to stuff bags full of
nutritious food for children in need. Easy to do, but the impact is
great for young children.
* We have
several care centers looking for volunteers to help with
Bingo – you can volunteer and work with seniors at various
schedules.
* The Oakley
House is a new volunteer station that needs volunteers
to assist with activities for the residents. Activities could
include low impact and light exercise, crafts, and games. If you are
outgoing, creative or love being around people – this could be for
you.
* The Darke
County Parks have lots of volunteer jobs; you can work
with a naturalist, monitor the nest boxes, or just to help paint. You
can become a regular volunteer or just work on a one-time
project.
Call
today and we will get you signed up and ready to volunteer! Contact
Abhy Mangen, the RSVP recruiter at 937-548-8002 or email her at
rsvpdk@councilonruralservices.org. She can answer your questions and
enroll you in the program.
