Versailles
Memorial Day Observance
A parade was part of the Versailles veteran's memorial service this
past Monday, May 26. Members of the American Legion Post #435 and
VFW Post #3849, along with the Legion Auxiliary, Versailles High School
marching band, Busy Beaver's 4-H club, boy and girl scouts marched from
the Vet's Club to Greenlawn Cemetery.
Fr. James Simons gave the invocation and Jerome Bey was the special
speaker. At the close of the ceremony the memorial cross,
representing the deceased veterans of all American wars, was decorated
followed by a 21 gun salute and the playing of Taps.
