Jim & Enid
Goubeaux Sponsor Joshua Carswell and Toledo Symphony Orchestra
Darke County Center for the Arts recognizes Jim & Enid Goubeaux for
their contributions to the DCCA 2014-2015 season. The Goubeaux’s
are Angel members of DCCA, and are sponsors of two Artists Series
performances including winner of the prestigious American Traditions
Competion, Joshua Carswell, performing October 11th and The Toledo
Symphony Orchesta’s A Night at the Oscars on April 25, 2015. “On
behalf of Darke County Center for the Arts, I want to express our
appreciation of Jim and Enid Goubeaux and their patronage to the arts
in Darke County. The Goubeaux’s have been long time supporters of
DCCA, and it’s mission of providing cultural enrichment and the
preservation of St. Clair Memorial Hall as an important cultural center
for the community,” stated Andrea Jordan, DCCA Executive
Director.
Darke County is fortunate to have a vibrant arts presence, thanks
largely to individual supporters, including Jim & Enid Goubeaux ,
who help make our community a great place to live. “We are very
pleased to support DCCA, its programming, and the cultural benefits it
brings to our community. Right on DCCA!” enthusiastically
shared Jim Goubeaux.
The second of DCCA's Artists Series concerts, singer Joshua Carswell
returns to St. Clair Memorial Hall after performing with and opening
for the Annie Moses Band in September. According to DCCA Artistic
Director Keith Rawlins, local audiences have already received a sneak
peek at the young man. “Josh is a close friends to members of the Annie
Moses Band, and performs with them when he's available; so all of those
in the audience were treated to a small sampling of what's in store
when he's in the spotlight,” Rawlins explained. “To say that he wowed
the audience with his vocal and interpretive abilities might be an
understatement; I strongly doubt that anyone who was there for that
enticing snippet will miss Josh's show,” Rawlins concluded. Just
25 years old, Carswell has already performed at Carnegie Hall and
released his first solo album featuring great American standards
including “I Only Have Eyes for You” and Hank Williams' plaintive “I'm
So Lonesome I Could Cry.” “Josh loves multiple musical styles and
genres, and has the extraordinary skill to perform and interpret almost
any song in a manner that immediately captures the audience and leaves
them wanting more,” Rawlins said. The Saturday, October 11th concert
begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20.
The Toledo Symphony Orchestra returns to Henry St. Clair Memorial Hall
Saturday, April 25, 2015 to present A Night at the Oscars. Toledo
Symphony Orchestra will present favorite and award winning film scores,
which stimulate emotions and enhance the story of classics from
Lawrence of Arabia, The Adventures of Robin Hood, and Star Wars, to
West Side Story and Gone with the Wind. The concert, the
final performance of DCCA's 2014-2015 Artists Series, begins at 8
p.m. Tickets are $30.
Tickets for the Artists Series performances can be reserved by
contacting DCCA at 937-547-0908 or purchased at DCCA's office located
within Greenville Public Library, as well as online at
www.CenterForArts.net. Tickets will also be available at the door prior
to the performance.
Greenville Federal and Ami McClurkin also sponsor the Toledo Symphony
Orchestra. DCCA performances are presented with additional
support from the Ohio Arts Council, which helps fund, the programs with
state tax dollars to encourage economic growth, educational excellence
and cultural enrichment for all Ohioans. DCCA also receives operating
support from the Harry D. and Esther Stephens Memorial as well as
funding from the Ketrow Foundation and Lydia E. Schaurer Memorial Trust
Fund.
