Supports Habitat for Humanity of Greater Dayton
Midmark teammates come together with Habitat for Humanity to provide
home for refugee family
DAYTON, Ohio, September 8, 2014 — Midmark Corporation employees began
working together to help build a home for a family through Habitat for
Humanity of Greater Dayton. The 16-week project launched Saturday,
September 6 with several Midmark teammates taking weekend shifts. The
goal is to have the house complete by December for the family to enjoy
over the holiday season.
The sponsored home is located near Midmark Center and the University of
Dayton’s campus at 241 Illinois Avenue for the Tshibangu family.
Muntu Tshibangu and his wife Esperance came to America with their five
children from Congo in April of 2012. They were given the opportunity
through a government relocation program, which helped them escape the
dangerous conditions of the Congo while relocating to the United States
for safety. With the help of Midmark teammates and Habitat for
Humanity, the Tshibangu family will be able to start a new life and
finally call a safe shelter their home.
“We support the mission of Habitat for Humanity enthusiastically and
are honored to be able to serve our local community in such a tangible
way,” said Mitch Eiting, global community relations manager. “Our
partnership with Habitat for Humanity provides a wonderful opportunity
to engage our teammates in Dayton’s community outreach efforts,
encourage team building exercises within our divisions, and present an
environment to learn new skills. We are excited to participate in such
a worthwhile cause.” Eiting continued, “We look forward to meeting
Muntu and his wonderful family. It is truly humbling and inspiring to
offer a safe haven to a deserving family by welcoming them into our
community.”
Anyone18 and older is welcome to attend this event. If you would like

About Habitat for Humanity of Greater Dayton
Founded in 1983, Dayton Ohio Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit,
volunteer-driven Christian ecumenical housing ministry dedicated to
providing decent, affordable housing to families in need throughout
Montgomery County.
Greene County Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1985 dedicated to
eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide through
constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes; by advocating for
fair and just housing policies for families throughout Greene County
Ohio.
January 1, 2014, both of these affiliates merged their resources to
create one organization to serve both Montgomery and Greene counties
and became Habitat for Humanity of Greater Dayton.
Habitat for Humanity serves as a hand up, not a hand out, for qualified
low income families. Families apply to earn a home of their own. Once
accepted into the program, our "Partner Families" work alongside our
many volunteers to build their house. They put in 275 to 550 hours of
"sweat equity" and take approximately 40 hours of classes to prepare
for responsible homeownership before earning their home. Partner
families make a down payment toward the purchase of their home, which
is then sold to them through an affordable, interest-free mortgage held
by Dayton Habitat for Humanity. Mortgage payments are put into a
revolving fund to build future homes.
