Take a
#PinwheelSelfie and Take a Stand Against Child Abuse and Neglect
COLUMBUS, Ohio –April is Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Month, and
the Ohio Children’s Trust Fund (OCTF) encourages all individuals to
show their support by taking a photo of themselves holding a pinwheel
and posting it to Facebook, Twitter or other social media sites using
the #PinwheelSelfie hashtag. Blue and silver pinwheels are the national
symbol for child abuse and neglect prevention.
“This year, we are taking our message to social media in the hope of
reaching as many people as possible to spread the word about reporting
child abuse and neglect,” said Kristen Rost, OCTF executive director.
“Help us cover social media with pinwheels to remind people that child
abuse and neglect are preventable and can be reported by calling
1-855-O-H-CHILD.”
Many county children services agencies have pinwheels available for
those interested in participating. OCTF also offers this pinwheel
template for anyone interested in making their own:

attached flyer.

If you suspect a child is being abused or neglected, call
1-855-OH-CHILD (855-642-4453). The number is toll-free, and reports can
be made anonymously.
The Ohio Children’s Trust Fund is the state’s sole public funding
source dedicated to preventing abuse and neglect. Housed within the
Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, the Ohio Children’s Trust
Fund works with its 88 county partners to serve all Ohio communities.
