Edison receives Reaffirmation of
Accreditation
Edison Community College recently received formal notification and
official record of Reaffirmation of Accreditation from its accrediting
body, the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). This process is implemented
to ensure that students who graduate with a degree, certificate or look
to transfer credits to another institution will be successful.
Reaffirmation is based upon evaluation through the Academic Quality
Improvement Program (AQIP). In the reaffirmation procedure, an AQIP
Pathway Review Panel on Reaffirmation reviews the institution’s
cumulative record of activity and judges whether it has documented that
it meets the HLC’s criteria for accreditation. The panel also
recommends whether the institution remains eligible for the AQIP
Pathway.
“The accreditation of Edison State Community College is key to the
college’s future and ensures quality programs and services for our
diverse student body,” said Dr. Karen Rafinski, Interim President. “We
are delighted to receive this affirmation of the diligent work of our
faculty, staff and administrators.”
By maintaining accreditation through AQIP, Edison is able to ensure its
students that credits earned through its programs will transfer to
other accredited colleges and universities across the country.
The HLC is an independent corporation that was founded in 1895 as one
of six regional institutional accreditors in the United States. The HLC
accredits degree-granting post-secondary educational institutions in
the North Central region.
Running on an eight-year cycle, Edison’s next Reaffirmation of
Accreditation is scheduled for 2022-2023. For more information, contact
