Edison students
educate 4th, 6th graders on bullying
GREENVILLE – “Bullies are often bullies themselves because they’ve been
bullied,” said team members from Edison Community College. Fundamentals
of Communication public speaking students were talking to fourth
graders at Greenville East (Intermediate) School about the problem.
Approximately 45 students from two classes crowded into a single
classroom April 8 to hear the presentation; they were focused on the
message they were receiving and provided considerable feedback. The
four Edison students – Emily Tumbusch, Daniel Cox, Morgan Bingham and
Shania Baker – educated them on the types of bullying and some of the
things they could do to stop it. The primary action they suggested was
to bring it to the attention of an adult. The presenting students heard
about experiences from their audience, the fourth graders…
“There are some people who are really mean,” said one student regarding
X-Box communications. Fourth graders are typically too young to have
Facebook accounts, but they are often subjected to similar abuse from
other electronic sources. “Some people were using cusswords and making
fun of me,” said another...
