Week of the Young
Child
April is the time each year that Kids Learning Place centers celebrate
“Week of the Young Child” by planning special activities along with
recognizing and re-committing to the goal of improving early learning
in the lives of our children and their families.
Kids Learning Place uses this week of April 13 - 18 as a way to focus
the public’s attention on young children and their families and the
importance of early learning opportunities. Children’s education
must be a high priority; we must do more to ensure that there are
opportunities for every child to experience early education
environments – in their home, school, child care and in every community
– we must see that all children succeed.
EVERYONE can make a difference in small ways that could have an
inspiring effect on children in great ways; share your interests,
culture, or talents in a classroom or volunteer to read with
children. We encourage community members to become involved in
programs that support young children during this important time in
their lives of becoming lifelong learners.
At Kids Learning Place we design the early education programs to
promote school readiness by providing high-quality learning
experiences. We do this by requiring teachers with degrees in
every classroom, using a research based curriculum, and encouraging
parent participation. Council on Rural Services and Kids Learning
Place also want to also take this time to recognize our early
education staff who significantly contributes to the quality of
services we provide to our families. Their commitment, vision,
and enthusiasm with children and families push the program to its
highest levels.
We are also proud that the Kids Learning Place Head Start and Child
Care centers in all eight of our counties participate in the “Step Up
To Quality” program from the Ohio Department of Job and Family
Services. The program recognizes local early education sites that
exceed licensing standards in education, staff training, and staff
qualifications. Our centers are the highest rated programs in
five of our eight counties.
Early childhood education is vital to our communities. Because of this,
school readiness and the well-being of each child is the primary goal
for Kids Learning Place. We believe building partnerships builds
strong children, strong families, strong communities and most important
- opportunities for children to succeed in school and life.
Kids Learning Place centers are always actively recruiting children to
attend the Head Start preschool program. Call our local
toll free number today for more information at 1-866-627-4557 or call
your local centers to find out what activities they are doing with the
children to celebrate and become part of the celebration too!
Kids Learning Place is owned and operated by the Council on Rural
Services that provides education, support, and volunteer services
through their programs. For more information check the web at
