Edison Foundation
Supports Student Scholarships
The Edison Foundation presented Edison Community College with a check
for $99,343 to support student scholarships. These funds are a
percentage of the Foundation’s asset pool, which continues to grow
thanks to the financial support of the surrounding community.
Supporting nearly 100 students with scholarships each year, the
Foundation has been able to increase its scholarship support to Edison
Community College by 6 percent annually for the last two years. These
scholarships are administered by the Edison Foundation and are
typically bestowed or endowed by individuals, corporate partners, and
civic organizations.
“For many students, these scholarships bridge a gap to college
attendance and achievement that would otherwise remain unattainable,”
said Kim Horton, Executive Director of the Edison Foundation. “Whether
for one semester, one year, or the duration of a student’s successful
pursuit of a degree, every dollar invested in a local student is money
invested locally to help train and prepare a skilled workforce.”
It is the mission of the Edison Foundation to assist Edison Community
College in meeting its educational and community service goals. The
Foundation accomplishes this through the identification, cultivation
and solicitation of corporate, foundation and individual donors, and by
communicating the goals and needs of the college to the communities of
Darke, Miami and Shelby counties.
