Students treated to
field events as school wraps up
GREENVILLE – The last two weeks of May were a culmination of testing, a
year-long effort on the part of teacher and student in Greenville
schools, and finally, rewards for their efforts. High school
activities, like the Senior Awards Night and Graduation, are familiar
events throughout the community, as is the eighth grade trip to
Washington, D.C. Not quite as well known are rewards at the
kindergarten through sixth grade levels.
Woodland Heights treated its kindergarten classes to an on-campus field
day May 28, and its first and second graders on May 29. Created – with
a volunteer crew – by gym teacher Maggie Copeland, kids had a variety
of water-related contests as well as ‘bounce house’ fun. Lunch was
