Ohio Beef Cattle
Letter
From Sam Custer
Four new articles have been posted in this week’s 961st issue of the
Ohio BEEF Cattle letter: http://u.osu.edu/beef/
There are a variety of reasons OSU Extension chose to become involved
in a beef replacement female sale. Primarily it was viewed as an
opportunity to encourage Ohio’s cattlemen to consider the purchase of
replacement breeding stock as a viable alternative to keeping small
numbers of replacement females and thus, hopefully reduce associated
management and production challenges. It was also designed to
demonstrate that the principles of beef herd female replacement that
have been taught in recent years via Ohio State University Extension
and the OSU Beef Team are cost effective and viable alternatives for
Ohio’s cattlemen. This week’s issue offers a look at the 2015 sale
offerings.
