Trackchair offers
more mobility for the disabled
GREENVILLE – At $16,500 it’s a bargain, at least according to Action
Trackchair representative Kim McCabe. She compared it to basic
wheelchairs you have to push with your hands (upwards from $6,000) to
the fancier models which can cost as much as $40,000 or more.
This one will take its occupant literally anywhere anyone else can go,
it uses two heavy-duty batteries for power and distance and it has a
“Trackstander” option that allows more flexibility doing various jobs,
like trimming tree branches… any activity requiring some degree of
elevation.
“I got involved because my husband is in a wheelchair,” McCabe said at
her Darke County Fair display booth on Aug. 26. The chair she was
sitting in, however, wasn’t his. “He won’t lend me his,” she said.
“This one belongs to a boy in his 20’s… he’s paralyzed from the neck
down.”
