Darke County Center for the Arts
DCCA Receives Arts Midwest Touring Fund Grant for THE TEXAS TENORS

Darke County Center for the Arts has been selected to receive funding from Arts Midwest Touring Fund, a program of Arts Midwest, generously supported by the National Endowment for the Arts with additional contributions from the Crane Group and General Mills Foundation.

Arts Midwest Touring Fund engages people in meaningful experiences with the fine arts of dance, music, theater, and other performing arts forms. Inter-state touring and the engagement of professional artists is central to the work of Arts Midwest.

Arts Midwest Executive Director David J. Fraher says, “Arts Midwest is proud to support DCCA in their upcoming engagement of The Texas Tenors. Arts events like this not only provide uplifting experiences for audiences, they also create meaningful jobs for those employed in the arts industry – thus amplifying the effectiveness of our funding.”

DCCA presents critically acclaimed The Texas Tenors sold out performance on Saturday, April 16, at St. Clair Memorial Hall.  From Alabama to Puccini, John Hagen, Marcus Collins and JC Fisher treat audiences to a unique harmony of country, classical, Broadway and contemporary music. They use breathtaking vocals, humor and a touch of cowboy charm to create a memorable and musically impressive show. With their Emmy Award winning PBS special now airing across the country, and Billboard chart-topping albums, it's easy to see why The Texas Tenors are quickly becoming America's favorite new tenors.

In addition to the 8 pm concert, DCCA will present a free event prior to the upcoming sold-out concert by The Texas Tenors at Henry St. Clair Memorial Hall.  John Hagen, Marcus Collins, and JC Fisher, will speak about their music, their journey, and their major influences, as well as take questions from the assembled crowd. Although this discussion is free and open to the public, due to the expected popular appeal of this program, tickets will be required for entry.

Since their debut five years ago on NBC's America's Got Talent, The Texas Tenors have accumulated a large fan base as well as numerous awards including three Emmys. According to Keith Rawlins, Artistic Director for DCCA, the Tenors' concerts include a unique combination of country, classical, Broadway, and contemporary music plus a touch of humor and cowboy charm to create a memorable show. “We knew that this would be a popular attraction, but were amazed at how quickly people scooped up tickets for the show,” Rawlins stated. “The pre-show event will enable a meaningful exchange between the artists and their audience, providing an enriching experience that enhances understanding and appreciation of this amazing trio,” Rawlins concluded.

Based in Minneapolis, Arts Midwest is one of six nonprofit regional arts organizations in the United States. Its mission is to promote creativity, nurture cultural leadership, and engage people in meaningful arts experiences, bringing vitality to Midwest communities and enriching people’s lives. Since its establishment more than 30 years ago, Arts Midwest has been serving audiences, arts organizations, and artists throughout the nine states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and beyond.

The National Endowment for the Arts is a public agency dedicated to supporting excellence in the arts, both new and established; bringing the arts to all Americans; and providing leadership in arts education. Established by Congress in 1965 as an independent agency of the federal government, the Endowment is the nation’s largest annual funder of the arts, bringing great art to all 50 states, including rural areas, inner cities, and military bases.

Additional Sponsors for the concert by The Texas Tenors are Second National Bank, Coppock-Hole Trust and The Bistro Off Broadway.  Additionally, the Ohio Arts Council helped fund this program with state tax dollars to encourage economic growth, educational excellence and cultural enrichment for all Ohioans. DCCA also receives operating support from the Harry D. and Esther Stephens Memorial as well as funding from the Ketrow Foundation, Lydia E. Schaurer Memorial Trust Fund, and DCCA memberships.
