VHCC
residents enjoy the Great Darke County Fair
Versailles Health Care Center long-term care residents and staff
recently enjoyed a day at The Great Darke County Fair! Residents
started their day by representing VHCC in the 2016 Great Darke County
Fair Parade of Champions at the Grandstand. Residents then played
games and all won prizes for their great efforts! Next, they
visited the Darke County Veterans Services building and toured the
rabbit and cow barns. Finally, VHCC residents ended their day
with fried chicken dinners. Activity Director, Kim Fair, said “It
is so great to see their faces light up when they see all the wonderful
animals, games, food, and friends they haven’t seen in so long.
Ned’s Chicken tent was so gracious to help us seat all of our residents
right up to the counter and serve them with a friendly smile!”
Long-term care resident, Jeanie Mader, said with a smile, “This brings
back so many memories of going to the fair. I used to love riding
on the Ferris wheel. One time my cousin and I got stuck on the
top for three hours before they got us down but we didn’t mind it one
bit!”
“The residents had such a great time that day; I wish we could do it
all over again! What I will remember most of all, will be the
looks of happiness on all their faces that day,” Fair
shared. “We really enjoy going on outings with our
residents. They are great for keeping our residents engaged and
entertained and also offering physical and mental benefits as well.”
