Wavaires
bring Christmas to Kiwanians
The Greenville High School Wavaires, under the direction of Chelsea
Whirledge, performed a series of Christmas music to Kiwanis of
Greenville Dec. 14. The 17-member unit performed such favorites as
Frosty the Snowman and a number of other traditional pieces. One
special offering was the Wavaires’ powerful version of Silent Night. It
was sung in the traditional manner, then with music and ‘signing,’ then
simply ‘signing.’
The renowned vocal music group has performed in New York City, Disney
World, and a variety of venues in Darke County, including Memorial
Hall, the Great Darke County Fair, churches throughout the county and
more.
Kiwanis of Greenville is a community service organization that meets at
noon every Wednesday at the Chestnut Village Center. Guests are welcome
at any time. Kiwanis also sponsors two organizations serving specific
groups: The Aktion Club and GHS Key Club.
