2016 CORN Newsletter
From Sam Custer
OSU Extension, Darke County
Please find below this week’s CORN Newsletter. We have a feature
article regarding our upcoming Corn College within it.
Four new articles have been posted in this week’s 968th issue of the
Ohio BEEF Cattle letter: http://u.osu.edu/beef/
It seems like we hear it nearly every year . . . “My cows are eating
all they want, and while they seem full, it appears they’re losing
weight.”
“I’ve got some cows that act like they are open.”
“My fall born calves seem unthrifty, and some are week. I’ve lost a
few.”
“I had a cow that could hardly get back up after she calved . . . just
seemed weak.”
But, this is the one that likely sums it up best . . . “I just got this
forage analysis back . . . it’s not very good, is it?”
This week, Jeff Fisher, Chris Bruynis, Jeff Moore, and Steve Boyles
share what they found when they recently looked at several southern
Ohio forage samples.
Articles include:
Hay Quality Determines Supplementation Needs
Feeding Livestock and Managing Forage Waste
OCA Accepting Bull Consignments for Seedstock Improvement Sale -
Deadline February 1
Thoughts on the Cattle Industry in 2016
