Ketrow Foundation
sponsors DCCA programs
Darke County Center for the Arts recognizes the Ketrow foundation for
their support of the arts in Darke County. DCCA thanks the Ketrow
foundation for their contribution to the 2015-2016 season and
forwarding DCCA’s mission to encourage cultural enrichment in the
community. “The Music of Rodgers & Hammerstein” performances by
Toledo Symphony Orchestra, at Henry St. Clair Memorial Hall, Saturday,
May 14 as the final show in DCCA’s 2015-2016 Artists Series. The
Ketrow Foundation also supports DCCA’s Family Theatre Series and Arts
in Education programs, which benefit Darke County youth and their
families. According to DCCA Executive Director Andrea
Jordan, “The Ketrow Foundation’s support of children’s
programming makes it possible for us to present wonderful, creativity
enhancing Family Theatre Series programs at an affordable ticket price,
and enables all Darke County public school students to experience a
professional artistic program each year.” Jordan continued, “We
are absolutely thrilled to see the children in our community receive
the benefit of their generosity and ensuring the opportunity to learn
and grow through the arts.”
Toledo Symphony Orchestra will fill the stage at St. Clair Memorial
Hall to perform “The Music of Rodgers & Hammerstein,” featuring
music from classic favorites including The Sound of Music, Carousel and
The King and I. Formed in 1943 as The Friends of Music, the
Toledo Symphony now in its seventy-second season, reaches an audience
of more than 260,000 annually, and has built a strong national
reputation for its artistic excellence and community programming.
Tickets for the Saturday, May 14, 8:00 PM concert are $30/$15
students.
DCCA’s Family Theater Series presents three professional theatrical
programs specifically chosen to reach out to the young and young at
heart. DCCA’s 2015/2016 Family Theatre Series included three
performances - Theatreworks USA presented The Lightning Thief on
October 4th; ArtsPower’s colorful musical production of the storybook
favorite Madeline & the Bad Hat on November 15th; And most
recently, Lightwire Theater returned to Darke County with a cosmic
adventure of their latest electroluminescent puppetry production Moon
Mouse A Space Odyssey on April 3. Family Theatre Series
shows take place at St. Clair Memorial Hall, in Greenville, and thanks
to continued community support ticket prices have remained at $5 since
the first performance in 1997.
DCCA Arts In Education programs for 2015/2016 included Kim & Reggie
Harris presenting Music of the Underground Railroad and songs of
freedom for students in grades K-3; the Mad River Theater Works
production of John Henry brings history to life for grades 4-6; Living
Voices returned to St. Clair Memorial Hall to present the story of Anne
Frank Through the Eyes of a Friend to grades 7 & 8; and as seen on
NBC’s “The Sing Off” a cappella sensation VoicePlay, performed for
Darke County High School students. Arts In Education artists are
generally in residence for a week as they tour all of the eight public
school districts in Darke County. These programs are open to the
public; contact the DCCA office for more information.
Greenville Federal, Jim and Enid Goubeaux and Harry D. Stephens
Memorial, Inc. are also sponsors of the Toledo Symphony Orchestra
performance. The performance is also sponsored by the Lydia E.
Schaurer Memorial Trust Fund. Additionally, the Ohio Arts Council
helped fund this program with state tax dollars to encourage economic
growth, educational excellence and cultural enrichment for all Ohioans.
DCCA also receives operating support from the Harry D. and Esther
Stephens Memorial.
