VHCC
hosts Grandparents Day celebration
Versailles Health Care Center recently hosted a Grandparents Day
celebration. National Grandparents Day, first proposed by a West
Virginia housewife and made official by a Presidential Declaration in
1978, is a wonderful opportunity to express appreciation for our older
generation. National Grandparents Day is always the first Sunday
after Labor Day. Over 200 people celebrated the festivities with
Susie’s Big Dipper, Ruffles the Clown, and the Barbershop Quartet
“Harmony”. Harmony performed a special remembrance for those lost
on 9/11. A special craft table was also set up for all to create
a special craft to commemorate the day!
Kim Fair, Activity Director at Versailles Health Care Center, shared
“Everyone was really happy to be together on such a beautiful day and
to be with their families. It was really great to see how much
love was at the gathering. There were so many generations present
for the event. It was just amazing! The lines for homemade
ice cream and balloon art never ended.”
Kristy Earick, VHCC CEO/Administrator, added “It was a beautiful day to
honor grandparents and a wonderful chance to thank them for all their
love. This celebration was about families enjoying time with each
other, from newborn to age 103.”
