Ketrow
Foundation Sponsors Toledo Symphony Orchestra & More
Darke County Center for the Arts recognizes the Ketrow foundation for
their support of the arts in Darke County. DCCA thanks the Ketrow
foundation for their contribution to the 2016-2017 season and
forwarding DCCA’s mission to encourage cultural enrichment in the
community. “I've Got Rhythm” recently performed by Toledo Symphony
Orchestra, at Henry St. Clair Memorial Hall, Saturday, April 29 as the
final show in DCCA’s 2016-2017 Artists Series. The Ketrow
Foundation also supports DCCA’s Family Theatre Series and Arts in
Education programs, which benefit Darke County youth and their
families. According to DCCA Executive Director Andrea
Jordan, “The Ketrow Foundation’s support of children’s
programming makes it possible for us to present wonderful, creativity
enhancing Family Theatre Series programs at an affordable ticket price,
and enables all Darke County public school students to experience a
professional artistic program each year.” Jordan continued, “We
are absolutely thrilled to see the children in our community receive
the benefit of their generosity and ensuring the opportunity to learn
and grow through the arts.”
Toledo Symphony Orchestra filled the stage April 29th at St. Clair
Memorial Hall to perform “I've Got Rhythm,” a performance filled with
the music of George Gershwin, including An American in Paris,Strike Up
the Band, variations of I've Got Rhythm and concluding with Rhapsody in
Blue. Toledo Symphony Resident Conductor, Sara Jobin returned to
conduct and Orchestral Piano Soloist Michael Chertock, graced the
Memorial Hall stage wowing the audience. Formed in 1943 as
The Friends of Music, the Toledo Symphony reaches an audience of more
than 260,000 annually, and has built a strong national reputation for
its artistic excellence and community programming.
Presentations in DCCA’s 2016-2017 Family Theatre Series included Arts
Power's Chicken Dance,November 6th, Laura Ingalls Wilder January
29th and Brown Bear, Brown Bear and Other Treasured Stories by Eric
Carle on Sunday, April 23rd.
DCCA Arts In Education programs for 2016-2017 included Jason
Farham presenting "Piano Outside the Box" for students in grades K-3;
Tasha Stielstra presenting "Pulling Together" on teamwork and
leadership for grades 4-6; AudioBody presented the synthesis of music
and technology in their unique performance at St. Clair Memorial
for grades 7 & 8; and international Irish musicians We Banjo 3
shared Irish culture and music while performing for Darke County High
School students. Arts In Education artists are generally in
residence for a week as they tour all of the eight public school
districts in Darke County.
