GHS Auto Tech students present to Kiwanis

Greenville High School Auto Tech presented “The Autonomous Revolution” to members and guests at a recent weekly Kiwanis of Greenville meeting. The program was about self-driven vehicles. Utilizing such vehicles like a cab service has many advantages, such as eliminating the costs of owning a car and reducing driving hazards. The built-in computers have a faster reaction time than humans. Humans are also easily distracted. There is still a need for more research due to ethical concerns.

Matt Oberinger is the new Auto Tech teacher. Students were Clayton Herron, Gabby Boettches, and Joseph Edwards. They were presented with a $200 check and will be going to the state competition. The GHS Auto Tech program boasts numerous state and national awards, including a National Gold in 2017.

Kiwanis of Greenville is a community service organization that meets at noon every Wednesday at the Chestnut Village Community Center. New members are welcome.
