From the Feb. 2013 East School Newsletter
Advice columnist, Jaden Sensano, and guest columnists will answer
students’ questions. Submit questions to the “Ask Jaden” box in the
library. No silly notes or goofy questions, please. Just things about
learning, friendships, school issues, entertainment for kids, etc.
Dear Jaden,
I would like to know how to do well on the OAA test everyone keeps
talking about. What advice can you give me?
Sincerely,
Not Quite Proficient
Dear Not Quite Proficient,
First, eat a good breakfast on the day of the test. It may sound crazy,
but it helps.
Second, don’t be lazy.
Write complete answers and look over all your work when you’re done.
Don’t forget to do any of the questions.
Third, don’t rush. It is not a race to see who finishes first in your
class. That will give you a bad grade.
Fourth, for the reading OAA, go back in the text (story) and underline
your answer and your proof.
Finally, this is important...THINK! “Columbus is trying to trick you,”
says Mrs. Baker, fourth grade language arts teacher.
Don’t be fooled. If you read lots of books, learn your math facts, and
remember my advice, you will thank me later.
Now… let’s ROCK COLUMBUS!!
Your pal, Jaden
