Greenville
National Bank supports Empowering programs
GREENVILLE – Lisa Martin, Marketing & Development Officer for
Greenville National Bank, meets up with Empowering’s After School Kids,
carrying a gift. It was a check to help support the After School and
Summer Tutoring Programs. She presented it to Kay Sloat, ASP Program
Coordinator.
“This is a great program,” she said. “We are proud to be able to help
with some of the expenses.” Greenville National Bank is locally owned
and operated, and an active force in the community, with eight
locations to serve its customers. It was originally chartered in 1876,
then reorganized in 1934 as Greenville National Bank. GNB has supported
Empowering programs since 2017.
The Empowering After School Program is wrapping up its third year,
having worked nearly 5,000 hours with 154 students. Program
Coordinators Kay Sloat and Chelsea Jones have developed tutoring modes
that allow the program to help as many as 50 students a day. Summer
tutoring enrollment will be scheduled soon. Locations will again be
Edison State Community College Darke County Campus and Greenville
Public Library. Ask about the summer program or how to help the
non-profit organization’s efforts at empoweringyouth101@gmail.com.
Donations may be sent to Empowering Darke County Youth at P.O. Box
1113, Greenville 45331.
The Empowering Mission: Empowering Darke County Youth is a United Way
Partner Agency providing After School and Summer Tutoring programs to
assist students in the areas of language arts and math with the goal of
Strong Students for a Strong Community.
