Zechar Bailey supports Empowering programs

GREENVILLE – Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Director Greg Zechar joined Empowering kids recently, bringing a check with him for the After School Program. Accepting the check was ASP Program Coordinator Chelsea Jones.

Zechar Bailey Funeral Home has long supported a variety of community programs, including sending care packages to troops overseas and honoring the staff at State of the Heart Care. The funeral home has helped support a college scholarship program since 2012, and the Empowering programs since 2017.

The Empowering After School Program is wrapping up its third year, having worked nearly 5,000 hours with 154 students. Program Coordinators Kay Sloat and Chelsea Jones have developed tutoring modes that allow the program to help as many as 50 students a day. Summer tutoring enrollment will be scheduled soon. Locations will again be Edison State Community College Darke County Campus and Greenville Public Library. Ask about the summer program or how to help the non-profit organization’s efforts at empoweringyouth101@gmail.com. Donations may be sent to Empowering Darke County Youth at P.O. Box 1113, Greenville 45331.

The Empowering Mission: Empowering Darke County Youth is a United Way Partner Agency providing After School and Summer Tutoring programs to assist students in the areas of language arts and math with the goal of Strong Students for a Strong Community.
