LeMaster to speak on
mission work, U.S.-Kenya relations
Dr. Joe LeMaster, former Darke County Republican Men’s Club president,
will speak about his recent trip to Kenya at the club’s meeting on
Saturday, May 21.
LeMaster departed the U.S. on Sunday afternoon March 27 and returned on
Wednesday afternoon April 13. His congregation has been
supporting between 40 - 50 Churches in Kenya since April 2005.
During his visits he always stays in the home of a Pastor and his
family.
While the primary reason for his visits is to verify that the monthly
money sent is being used as intended and to teach on any Biblical
subject that they determine, LeMaster has also noted he discovered an
issue in Kenya regarding the World Court.
“They are blaming us for their voting in the new Constitution and for
their people being sent to the World Court,” he said. The International
Criminal Court (ICC) has issued summons for six Kenyans accused of
masterminding the country’s worst post-election violence that claimed
up to 1,500 lives, to appear before the court on April 7.
“This is a concern about which most of us here in the U.S. are
unaware,” he said.
The Kenyan people are interested in American politics and are concerned
over what is ahead of them in their political arena.
LeMaster also noted that most pastors in Kenya receive no formal
training and are self-taught or listen to American televangelists for
their education.
The Darke County Republican Men’s Club meets the third Saturday of
every month at 8 a.m. in the Brethren Home Retirement Community’s Staff
Dining Room. A buffet breakfast is included for $6.
The club is currently on a membership drive and welcomes new members
interested in the Darke County community and promoting Republican
leadership. Meetings are open to the public.
