Zehringer to speak at Darke
Republican Men’s Club

Director Jim Zehringer at Congressman John Boehner's Agricultural Forum
in March.
“In his state of the state address, Governor Kasich charged me with
thinking about agriculture in a completely different way and with
finding out how many agribusinesses we can grow,” Zehringer said.
“I share the governor’s vision of supporting agriculture as an industry
that leads Ohio to more prosperous times.”
These comments were made by Ohio Department of Agriculture Director Jim
Zehringer in Reynoldsburg in March. The former State Representative
serving District 77 will return “home” to speak to the Darke County
Republican Men’s Club at 8 a.m. on April 16. The meeting will be held
at the Employee Cafeteria, Brethren Retirement Community.
As one of the two largest agricultural counties in Ohio, Zehringer’s
discussion of agriculture and agribusiness should be of particular
interest to Darke County, as well as its “competing” neighbor to the
north, Mercer County.
Zehringer was appointed Ag Director in January. State Rep. Jim Buchy,
who spoke to the group in March, was appointed to complete Zehringer’s
term in the State House.
With the Republican Primary coming up in May, there will also be an
opportunity for all Republican candidates for office in 2011 to address
the group. There is one contested race: that for Mayor between
Greenville City Council member Doug Schmidt and Greenville Mayor Mike
Bowers.
The Darke County Republican Men’s Club meets the third Saturday of each
month at 8 a.m. in BRC’s Employee Cafeteria. A buffet breakfast is
served for a $6 “donation.” The public is invited to all Men’s Club
meetings. Membership is open to men and women wishing to help support
the efforts of Republican candidates and public servants.
