Mark your Calendar... September 11, 2011
Your local and independent Cancer Association of Darke County is
putting on their seventh annual Gospel Sing concert. The Gospel Sing is
a free, nondenominational concert on September 11th, at Saint Clair
Memorial Hall in Greenville opening at 6:00 PM and concluding at 8:00
PM.
The next two weeks, we will be highlighting some of this year’s
performers. The first release covers the following artists: Gene
Sherfy, Debbie Lynn Bryson, Cor-22, and the Lemon Family.
Gene Sherfy has been singing Gospel music as a soloist since
1975. He has sung with three gospel groups and toured several
states sharing the word of God in song. Gene winters in Florida
and enjoys singing in nursing homes and retirement communities.
He loves singing for the Lord in churches and anywhere he can to share
Gods word in music.
Debbie Lynn Bryson, a native of Darke County has been singing since the
age of two and writing songs since she was 15. She has been
traveling and singing Gospel music in a five state area for the last
five years. Her latest trip was to northeastern Ohio where she
was blessed to share the stage with Lorne Matthew, whom for many years
played piano for the internationally famous Gospel Quartet THE
CATHEDRALS. She is currently in correspondence with Ann
Downing who has appeared on the Gaither vocal Gospel programs.
Debbie’s music can be heard on WTGR and WFCJ in Ohio and also on K-ROCK
Luddington, Michigan radio stations. With five CD’s released, her
latest gospel CD entitled “PURE INSPIRATIONS”, has sold out many times.
Her heartwarming yet very powerful voice will leave you wanting
more. Debbie loves the Lord, and continues to share the word of
God through her music ministry. Debbie truly hopes that her
audiences are moved by the Holy Spirit.
Cor 22 the group who produces gospel music in capella style started in
2004. The group has seen several changes in members over the
years, but original members, Dylan Wagoner, lead baritone and Clem
Flory, lead tenor, continue to carry on the tradition. In
2010 Jeff Hunter baritone- tenor and Heath Hale bass, joined Cor 22 to
complete the group. A good portion of their songs are
original. Cor 22 strive to produce uplifting music that points
people to Jesus.
Mike, Lori, Kari and Julie Lemon are all lifelong residents of
Greenville. Mike and Lori met and began singing together while
attending Greenville High School and have sung for countless area
churches and organizations. Kari and Julie began singing with
their parents as early as 3 or 4 years of age. Kari is now a
senior at Ball State University majoring in Music Education and Julie
is a freshman also attending Ball State majoring in Forensic Psychology
with a minor in Criminal Justice. The Lemon family remains very
involved at St. Paul Lutheran Church and enjoy singing the Lord’s
praises whenever possible.
Next we will feature the remaining artists to perform for our Gospel
Sing, so keep an eye out for our next announcement!
The Cancer Association is excited for this event and hopes that you and
your family will keep the evening of September 11th clear to attend
this FREE, nondenominational concert. A love offering will be taken
during the performance to benefit the Cancer Association of Darke
County. There will also be a bake sale to benefit the Cancer
Association with local and homemade baked goods.
