American
Idol won’t kick off its 11th
season until January, but a few local fans received an early Idol
surprise.
Lauren
Alaina, season 10 runner-up, on
Dec. 2 announced she will be joining country singer Jason Aldean’s 2012
My
Kinda Party Arena Tour. The tour, which will hit 18 cities, will stop
in Dayton
in March.
Aldean
and Alaina, as well as country
singer Luke Bryan, will appear at Wright State University’s Nutter
Center 7:30
p.m. Thursday, March 22. The sold-out show will be the only Ohio visit
on the
tour.
Earlier
this year, Ohio native Crystal
Bowersox, Season 9 runner-up, held a concert at Clark State Community
College’
Performing Arts Center in Springfield, promoting her debut album,
“Farmer’s
Daughter.”
American
Idol’s 11th season will
premiere 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan 18 on Fox.
Ohio
recently has been a hotbed for
realty television singing shows.
Fox’s
newest singing competition, The
X Factor, features Nicole Scherzinger, former singer of the Pussycat
Dolls and
a former WSU student, as one of its four judges. And Josh Krajcik, Ohio
native
and Columbus resident, currently is one of the Top 5 on the show.
