Darke
County Center for the Arts
“Barbecue and Blues” fundraising event at Greenville Golf Course on
Friday,
July 22 will not only feature music and ribs, but will also offer
desserts from
Ghyslain. “We are excited about snagging bluesmaster Michael Locke to
provide
the music, happy that Hog Wild Bar-B-Que agreed to be our food vendor,
and now
I am absolutely thrilled to say that Ghyslain will offer desserts for
sale to
our patrons,” said Julie Strait, Executive Director of DCCA. Ghyslain,
an
internationally known chocolatier, has operated a shop in Union City
since
1998, where his products include French pastries, gelato, and other
delicacies,
and also operates restaurants in Richmond and Indianapolis, IN and
Louisville,
KY .
According
to Mrs. Strait, DCCA’s
“Barbecue and Blues” has been planned as a fun-filled outdoor
summertime event
for the entire family. “We invite the community to bring their lawn
chairs and
blankets and head on out to the Golf Course for delicious food, great
music,
and a good time,” she said. Food items offered for sale by Hog Wild
Bar-B-Que
in addition to ribs include pulled pork, brisket, and home-made sides,
as well
as loaded nachos, walking tacos, and iced tea and lemonade. Soft drinks
and
alcoholic beverages can be purchased from Greenville Golf Course.
Bluesman
Michael Locke and his band
will perform; a Florida native who now calls Southwest Ohio his home,
Locke is
known for his lightening fast guitar riffs and rock-solid rhythms. The
appearance by Michael Locke and the Repeat Offenders is sponsored by
Matt and
Angie Arnold, George and Becky Luce, and Robert and Jean McLear.
Admission
to the event costs $10; “Barbecue
and Blues” opens at 6:30 p.m. Although tickets will be available at the
gate,
DCCA strongly recommends purchasing tickets in advance in order to
assist the
food vendor in planning for adequate supplies. Tickets may be purchased
at
Greenville Golf Course, Readmore’s Hallmark, or by contacting DCCA at
937-547-0908 or dcca@centerforarts.net. Proceeds will benefit DCCA’s
programs
in the community, including Arts In Education and the Family Theatre
Series.
